The Iranian Parliament has recently ratified the accession to the Nice and Locarno Agreements, known as Nice and Locarno classification. The Nice Agreement establishes a classification of goods and services for the purposes of registering trademarks and service marks, while the Locarno Agreement establishes a classification for industrial designs. Accession to these treaties is a major step in harmonizing the Iranian rules and regulations with international norms and standard on trade and to prepare the grounds for Iran’s membership in the World Trade Organization.
